We seek a leader who demonstrates a passion for student engagement and public service excellence to develop and coordinate programs and services to meet the instruction, access, and research needs of faculty and students at the University of Idaho. Part of the senior leadership team, this position contributes to strategic and operational planning and assessment processes. The position is a tenure-track, 12-month appointment, with teaching, scholarship, outreach, and service expectations.
START DATE: December 1, 2013
The Head of User and Research Services will work with library faculty responsible for reference services and the library instruction program, first year experience program, coordinate the liaison program and supervise the circulation and interlibrary loan staff. This position will have responsibilities for collection development in social sciences as well as reference and instruction assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required qualifications: An MLS or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program and at least five years of relevant experience in an academic library. Successful candidates are expected to have leadership experience as well as a record of scholarship and service that would meet the expectations of an appointment at the rank of associate professor.
Desirable qualifications: An advanced degree in an academic discipline; experience with reference services; experience with access services (circulation, reserve, or interlibrary loan); evidence of successful classroom teaching; experience with program planning and assessment; successful utilization of technology in public services; and supervisory experience.
