Assistant Director for Public Services, Librarian IV – Anchorage Public Library System, Lib

Great opportunity to help to grow library services in one of the most beautiful regions in the world.  Coordinate the branch libraries of the Anchorage Public Library System. Supervise branch managers, Dispatch Supervisor, Circulation Supervisor and the Adult Services Manager. Responsible for the development of branch programs and direct the branch libraries to adhere to generally accepted library standards. Assess communities to plan for development of branch library services. Work with community councils and neighborhood leaders in coordinating branch library activities to meet community needs.   Assist with the development of programs for children and adults with an emphasis on branch/community needs. Oversee and ensure branch libraries are well maintained and facility problems are addressed quickly. Assist Director with Library operations.  Prepare budget and statistical library reports.

Minimum Qualifications:   Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school and five years of increasingly responsible professional library experience, at least two of which have been at an administrative level with responsibility for budget preparation and management.

Substitution:   Additional education in Finance, Accounting may substitute for part of the specific experience requirement.
