Instruction and Outreach Librarian
Western Oregon University

The Instruction and Outreach Librarian serves in a leadership role in designing and implementing an online system of instruction and assessment. The Instruction Librarian coordinates the participation of librarians in the instruction efforts within their particular subject areas. The Instruction Librarian researches developing technologies and methodologies of online instruction; evaluates and assesses instructional needs and activities; gathers, assimilates, and disseminates statistics on instructional activity; participates in providing library instruction; supervises student employees assigned to library instruction; and represents the Library and Media Services' instructional component to local, regional, and national bodies working toward the same goals.

Minimum Qualifications:  MLS degree from ALA-accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with information literacy concepts and programs, teaching and assessment, instructional technology, online instructional design, and curriculum development.  Candidates must also be able to work collegially and have demonstrated analytical, organizational, leadership and communications skills.

Western Oregon University is a comprehensive, public university of 5,000 students, which places special emphasis on undergraduate teaching.  Located in the Willamette Valley, it is 15 miles from Salem, the state's capital, and 60 miles from Portland.  The Library is a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance consortium.
