As the ideal candidate, you have experience in a library public service environment modeling excellent customer service, and in the development and delivery of technology training for staff and customers. Diplomatic and collaborative, you excel working in a team environment and in supporting the learning of others. You will use your superb technology and organizational skills to help develop, deliver and promote EPL's digital literacy services and programs.

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Literacy Initiatives and working in collaboration with two other Digital Literacy Librarians at the Stanley A. Milner Library, you will also serve as a member of the system-wide team that leads the development and implementation of digital literacy services for customers of all ages.

Using your passion for keeping current with digital literacy library service trends and their delivery, you will promote a learning environment, working with staff to develop their digital literacy skills and capacity. In keeping with EPL's Community-Led Service Philosophy, you will champion that digital literacy services are driven by customer and community needs.

You are committed to intellectual freedom and other key principles of librarianship and you will uphold and model the ideals found in the CLA position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion. Working as a member of a system-wide team environment, you will make a real difference in people's lives every day.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Library and Information Science degree from an ALA accredited library school.
  • Two years related library experience, preferably in a public service environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering technology-focused library services and programs is preferred.

  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, training and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to assess community interests and needs, and to plan and deliver services accordingly, in keeping with the Library's business plan and strategic directions.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs for staff and customers of all ages and from a wide variety of cultural, economic, social and educational backgrounds.
  • Experience with personal computers, mobile devices, e-readers, social software applications, and Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Band: $31.28 - $39.92 per hour*

*Approximately $57,100-72,900 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.

Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement.

NOTE:

  • Candidates who do not meet the two year professional librarian work experience qualification may be considered at a lower pay band.
  • This position will involve a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.  Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with Library policy.
