The North Vancouver District Public Library Board is seeking a Director of Library Services who is committed to high quality customer service and meeting community needs to manage Library operations, services and resources and to provide innovative leadership for our three branch library system.

The busiest library system of its size in Canada, the North Vancouver District Public Library’s mission is to enrich and inform by connecting our community to a wealth of information, ideas and experiences.

We are:

North Vancouver District Public Library is a medium-sized public library with three branches serving the residents of the District of North Vancouver, a community of 88,000 located on the beautiful North Shore mountains. We share a commitment to sustainability with the residents of the District; having just completed construction of the LEED certified Lynn Valley Main Library and begun renovation of our Capilano Branch to LEED standards.  Our library system has an annual operating budget of over $5 million, a collection of over 300,000 items and employs 65 FTE staff. 

You are:

An outgoing leader committed to help us integrate our new state of the art facilities into our dynamic community.  You have proven leadership abilities, preferably in a unionized environment, complemented by excellent communication, financial management, organizational and interpersonal skills.  You also have a demonstrated ability to provide direction and support for long-range planning initiatives and to build strong, effective teams.  At the same time, your commitment to developing strong relationships with the Board, the community, the District Council and staff are critical to your success in this position.  Preferably, your work experience will be augmented by an ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies or similar qualifications. Above all, you will be eager to help us achieve our vision “Your library:  the place you want to be”.
