The College
Lane Community College, a comprehensive community college in beautiful Eugene, Oregon, has begun the search for a Librarian. The college offers a wide variety of instructional programs including transfer credit programs, professional technical degree and certificate programs, continuing education noncredit courses, programs in English as a Second Language and International ESL, GED programs, and customized training for local businesses. Classes are offered at several locations, and online classes and telecourses are also available. More than 36,000 students take credit or noncredit classes at Lane each year. Lane has the third largest enrollment of the 17 community colleges in Oregon. Lane serves a 4,600 square mile area from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean (this is an area larger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined).
Lane has received many awards and accolades for its innovative programs and high quality instruction. The college is a member of the League for Innovation in the Community College, and in 2000 was selected by the league as one of 12 Vanguard Learning Colleges in North America for its outstanding record of achievement and innovation in improving learning. The Position
Lane Community College is seeking an innovative and participatory Faculty Librarian to collaboratively develop and implement a program of library instruction, instructional support services, and collections which further the missions of the Library and the College.
Lane Community College Library is the third largest community college library in Oregon, serving the educational, informational, and vocational needs of an expanding and diverse student population. The Library provides information support to over 50 professional and technical programs, noncredit programs and transfer degree options.

The Community
Lane's main campus is in Eugene, a city known for its quality of life and for being the home of the University of Oregon. Eugene (population 148,000) and neighboring Springfield (population 56,000) comprise the second largest population center in the state.
Eugene and Springfield are nestled in the Willamette Valley between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains, and some peaks in the Cascade Range can be seen from main campus. The area's scenic mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and coastline offer many opportunities for outdoor adventures or for just sitting back and enjoying the view. |

The Qualifications
Education:
*MLS from ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent
Experience:
* 2 years professional experience in an academic library
* Recent experience with instructional technologies
* Recent teaching experience in information literacy competencies
