Echo Services Inc. has a full-time Archives Manager position available at a large software company in Redmond, WA.  We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and organized individual.

The ideal candidate will possess a wide range of skills and knowledge.  Daily tasks will encompass the entire spectrum of managing an archives collection and personnel:  processing, planning, cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, and collection maintenance as well as staff management.  The ideal candidate will also possess innovative ideas to implement best practices to improve existing standards and processes. 

  • Manage day-to-day vendor operations of the Archives. 
  • Participate in strategic planning and initiate plans for both long term improvements and daily operations.  This includes plans for proper preservation and storage of Archival items.
  • Conduct professional-level arrangement and description of all archival materials.  This includes determining the processing priorities and managing the flow of cataloguing.
  • Perform subject analysis, cataloging and indexing of photographs and textual records. 
  • Assist with appraisal and selection of visual materials and textual records.
  • Implement ongoing production techniques for preservation scans and data quality assurance of image databases.
  • Develop and implement new programs and projects.
  • Restructure storage and work spaces, maintenance of vault map, and metrics reporting. Ongoing inventory/ordering of Archival supplies.
  • Monitor client requests.
  • Supervise personnel including: ensure staff provides responsive customer service; determine workload and delegate assignments; train, monitor and evaluate performance, and initiate corrective or disciplinary actions.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Masters degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Museology. A person with a graduate level training in archives is preferred. However, a person with a graduate degree in librarianship with archival credentials or experience would be considered.
  • Be able to work independently as well as within a team setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized (i.e. ability to successfully multi-task and meet deadlines).
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Proficient computer skills – experience with Microsoft Office products.

Hours: This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week Monday-Friday (some flexibility in schedule).
