Background:
Chinook Regional Library is looking for an innovative and creative person to fill a management level position. Chinook is one of 8 regional libraries in Saskatchewan, all of which are part of a co-operatives system. Our 33 branch libraries cover a wide area in southwestern Saskatchewan and serve a population of 46,249. CRL headquarters are located in the city of Swift Current,.As well as assisting with the core planning and management of the system, the Assistant Director will be asked to take on challenging special projects that will truly make a difference in our system. The projects to be pursued in a given year will be determined based on regional priorities, but could include such things as: regional consultations for strategic planning; website redesign; development of medium or long range plans in key areas, such as fund development or marketing; grants and partnerships; staff and policy development; planning for technology and tech-related services.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and will be comfortable with technology and library technical services. A master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent master’s is mandatory.
Southwestern Saskatchewan boasts a climate ranked 12th in the country by MoneySense magazine. Real estate remains affordable, and Saskatchewan’s economy is one of the top performers in the country. The city of Swift Current has an active arts, culture and sports scene, with literary cafes, a community theatre, an art gallery, and numerous concerts and community arts and culture groups. Wages and Benefits:
Start wage: $58,000. A moving allowance of up to $2,500 is available.
Benefits: Saskatchewan has publicly funded basic healthcare. Employer pays group life, employees self-fund LTD.
