The Geoffrey R. Weller Library of the University of Northern British Columbia seeks applications for an energetic and innovative individual for the position of Web Services / Instruction Librarian.Under the direction of the Associate University Librarian and working in a team environment the Web Services / Instruction Librarian will be responsible for providing web-based services, assessing emerging information technology, and integrating instructional applications within the academic library and e-learning environment Specific duties include but are not limited to:

•           Developing, maintaining, and managing the library’s web presence.
•           Assessing the library’s web pages and services including monitoring of usage statistics.
•           Customizing access and service enhancements related to the library’s integrated library system and e-resources.
•           Providing direction & leadership for the development of web-based and multimedia instruction and tutorial materials.
•           Supporting library staff in the use and development of library related web-pages and other web-based service applications.
•           Providing in-person and virtual reference and research assistance (may involve some evening and weekend work).
•           Teaching library instruction classes.
•           Liaison and collection development in a designated subject area.
•           Collaborate with campus wide units, in particular the Centre for Teaching
             Learning & Technology and Information Technology Services.
•           Participation in professional development activities.  

Qualifications & Requirements:Applicants will have a MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited library school or be near completion.  The candidate will have knowledge and experience in the design, development and management of library websites; experience integrating library technologies and resources into the delivery of information services within the web environment; familiarity with the integration of library services and resources into course management software is considered an asset.   Previous academic library experience is preferred. Proven experience with HTML, CSS, and ezproxy are required.  Previous experience working with Innovative Interfaces Inc. Library System is highly desirable.  Experience with database systems such as MS SQL 2005, MS ACCESS, ORACLE would be an asset along with Javascript and .Net programming.  Experience working with the Windows and Unix platforms on the desktop and service side would also be an asset. 
The incumbent will be capable of demonstrating forward visioning of technology’s role in the library incorporating web applications appropriate in the academic environment.   The desired candidate will be flexible and have the ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member and will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
