The School Education Group, the leading provider of print and digital educational materials for Grades PreK-12, is looking for a Digital Curricula Manager to work in our Center for Digital Innovation (CDI) in Bothell, WA.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate content for opportunities to provide a rich, interactive experience for both the teacher and the students that incorporates Interactive White Boards, one-to-one computing, web 2.0 tools, web 3.0 tools, etc.
- Marry curriculum design, technology, classroom practices to develop solutions that are both innovative and effective.
- Vigilant in ensuring pedagogical consistency of digital curriculum across all lessons.
- Clearly communicates plan to instructional design team, consultants, and vendors.
- Work with standards alignment tools for curriculum and assessment.
- Work closely with SEG editorial to identify existing programs that are not overly encumbered by permissions or author rights that can be used as the starting point for the digital curriculum blueprint.
- Work with permissions group to obtain digital rights to copyrighted assets.
- Supervise digital curriculum architect team and identify training needs to ensure that team members are appropriately trained and debriefed of project responsibilities.
- Collaborate with members of other CDI departments (instructional design, design, programming, etc.) and vendors to clarify content and interface-related issues for each learning activity.
- Work with the project manager to identify risks and develop a risk mitigation plan.
- Follow early trends in educational technology and first to market products.
- Support Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support by providing product knowledge expertise in order for them to sustain and grow their customer base. Create support materials such as product samplers. Represent CDI at various trade shows, conferences and sales meetings.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of five years of editorial experience within educational publishing.
- Experience managing creative teams.
- A minimum of four years of experience developing digital curriculum and/or interactive lessons.
- Experience working with HTML tags.
- Excellent ability to present and communicate ideas, argue and defend opinions under scrutiny.
- Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of processes with the ability to grasp broad concepts and a strong attention to detail.
- Highly creative with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with industry standard office communication and organizational software.
Desired:
- Master's degree.
- Excellent understanding of current technology practices and game design.
- Uses social networking tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Flikr.
- Avid online gamer.
- Product development experience across multiple disciplines.
- Understanding and competency with multiple operating systems, platforms, and media types.
