Position Profile: Washington State Ferries is seeking a librarian for the Terminal Engineering Department. The Terminal Engineering Department provides land-side design and construction division of the state ferry service, improving and maintaining 19 docking facilities. While reporting to the Termial Department Director, the librarian will work independently serving the staff of the Terminal Engineering Department of the WSDOT/ Ferries Division as well as providing information resources to agency employees, contractors, consultant firms, the Attorney General and to the general public.

We are seeking an active and innovative library professional. The successful candidate will lead departmental adoption of state information initiatives, working in conjunction with the WSDOT Library and the Vessel Engineering Library at WSF while providing excellent library services, including collection management and reference services, strategic planning, and budgeting.

Additional qualifications:
Candidates should have the ability to work independently, demonstrating creative problem solving and good stewardship of resources. Familiarity with OCLC and cataloguing issues is necessary, as is awareness and interest in library and information resources and technologies. Some knowledge of records management and transportation engineering is desirable.

Legal Requirement(s):
This position must meet the provisions of WAC 300-12 “Certification of Librarians” and RCW 27.04.055 “Qualifications of Librarians-Rules-Fees”

Requirements: 
Position requires a Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited program and certification by the State Librarian authorized through the Office of the Secretary of State; or certification by professional portfolio as authorized through the Office of the Secretary of State and two years experience as a professional librarian.

Compensation: $38,556 - $50, 568.
