Job Posting summary:
We are seeking a new tenure track faculty member to play a leading role in the way information literacy and course content delivery methods are taught at Mat-Su College. The successful candidate will be an outgoing and dynamic individual who possesses both the ability to communicate clearly and an interest in how and why instructional technology works. This position is the cornerstone for the expansion of both the information literacy and instructional design efforts of the college and will work with students and faculty members from all of our academic programs.
Mat-Su College is one of the University of Alaska Anchorage family of campuses. We are a small, but rapidly growing college about an hour north of Anchorage in a rural setting halfway between the towns of Palmer and Wasilla. Our student/faculty ratio is 14:1, and we value the personal touch that it allows.
The college serves the 88,000 residents of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The Borough is approximately the size of West Virginia, but the vast majority of the residents live within an hour's drive of campus.
Typical education required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent, received by date of hire.
Recruitment closing date: 8/23/10
Duties:
Develop and deliver instruction on information literacy to the students of Mat-Su College using a variety of methods including both individual and group instruction and web-based materials.
Collaborate with the MSC Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence and UAA Faculty Technology Center to develop workshops for college faculty on effective methods for the delivery of course content using the teaching tools that are available to them.
Maintain good working relationships with the staffs of the Mat-Su College Computer and Technology Services Department and the UAA/APU Consortium Library to stay current on available products and services in order to provide instruction on them.
Provide reference service. Evening and weekend hours will be required.
Maintain expertise in learning theory, pedagogy, and instructional technology.
Demonstrate the operation of the library's audio/visual equipment to students, faculty, and staff.
Participate on college committees.
Respond to opportunities to provide professionally-related service in the surrounding community.
