Library Manager
Fraser Valley Regional Library

Deadline: 'open until filled'

Library Manager, Delta

You want to take it to the next level and here is your opportunity.  Positioned between a branch manager and a CEO is the library manager position in British Columbia’s largest library system. Working with dedicated and customer-oriented staff in three libraries in three different communities in Delta—Ladner, North Delta and Tsawwassen—you will continue to raise the library’s profile, showcase its relevance and develop new partnerships with community leaders.

As a planner and strategic thinker, you can work effectively as a manager with both a large and diverse regional library system and a large and diverse municipality. Your political acumen and tolerance for ambiguity makes working with several “masters” a simple fact of life—you are approachable and comfortable with authority and influence. As a leader, you possess strong communication skills and are comfortable in a unionized environment and with labour relations.

With a retail focus and creativity you will be able to make connections with different cultures and groups and continue to increase circulation and use. You will be keen to expand and improve facilities and equipment.

FVRL seeks a professional librarian who has a vision for the future of public libraries, is comfortable with newer applications of technology and is willing to take calculated risks. Our managers are team players with financial acumen, committed to community development and anxious to become involved through community service organizations. Energy, humour, staff development and exceptional problem-solving skills contribute to their success.

Delta is ideally situated between Vancouver, Gulf islands and the U.S. border. With innumerable recreational opportunities, golf courses, biking and walking trails, and beaches, the municipality offers good schools and safe communities. Delta is “a great place to live, work and play.”

Similarly, the FVRL is a stable employer, with exceptional benefits and administrative support for staff development and training.

Posting open until filled.
Review of applications begins March 8, 2010.

If this is your profile, the Board offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package. Strategic plans and board reports are available on the FVRL Website. For further information and detailed position description, contact:
