Whistler Public Library has an exciting opportunity for interested professionals to apply for the permanent full time position of Library Director. Reporting to the Library Board, the Director is responsible for ensuring that the Library is operated in a manner consistent with applicable legislation, policies and procedures and the strategic direction of the Library Board.

The Director manages a workforce comprised of staff members, and volunteers. Additional duties include preparing, administering and monitoring annual operating budgets and capital projects, overseeing collection development and maintenance, managing the facility and equipment, including the computer network and website, overseeing the circulation of library materials, gathering and reporting all necessary statistics, promoting the Library and its programs throughout the community, and working collaboratively with other community organizations and library users, as well as regional and government partners.

Qualifications Commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Whistler Public Library. Excellent managerial, leadership and planning skills with high ethical standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with library trustees, elected officials, RMOW staff and community groups. Ability to effectively supervise and motivate library staff and volunteers. Outstanding financial and budgetary skills. Masters degree in Library Science from a recognized post-secondary institution or a Masters degree in administration with significant library experience.
