Position Available "Head, Database Quality Control Section"

     
     "HEAD, DATABASE QUALITY CONTROL SECTION" RECRUITING ANNOUNCEMENT
     
     WLN, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Lacey, WA is currently 
     recruiting for the position of  "Head, Database Quality Control."  
     
     To qualify, the applicant should have an ALA accredited MLS and a 
     minimum of 5 years post-MLS cataloging experience.   Additional 
     qualifications include: 2 years experience with authority control or 
     database management in a large bibliographic database and 2 years 
     experience with a major bibliographic utility.  Experience supervising 
     staff is also desired.   Knowledge of MARC formats, AACR2, LCSH, and 
     national cataloging standards and trends as well as the ability to 
     learn quickly and adapt to a rapidly changing work environment are 
     other attributes required of applicants.
     
     The successful applicant will be responsible for quality control of 
     the WLN bibliographic and authority files, provide support to users 
     and supervise the quality control group.
     
     For 20 years, WLN has provided a broad range of innovative, high- 
     quality products and services to libraries of all types and sizes 
     throughout the US and around the world.  These services include a 
     full-service online MARC bibliographic database (with acquisitions, 
     cataloging, and interlibrary loan subsystems and a linked authority 
     file), a CD-ROM version of the database, as well as database 
     preparation and authority control service (the WLN MARC Record 
     Service).  WLN  is a full level Internet service provider.
     
     WLN is offering a competitive salary ($2,836-$3,367 per month, 
     full-time), commensurate with experience and qualifications, 
     accompanied by an excellent, comprehensive benefits package.

     position is filled.   Ideally, the selected applicant will begin work 
     by March 3, 1997.
