POSITION

The district is seeking qualified applicants for the position of library
media specialist for the Lake Washington School District.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Must possess or be eligible for an appropriate Washington teaching
certificate 
* Successful training as a librarian at the level for which the
application is being submitted is preferred
* Demonstrate the ability to provide the leadership and/or participation
necessary to ensure that the library media computer program is fully
integrated into the school's curriculum goals 
* Demonstrate the ability to provide the instruction which results in the
effective use of the library media center 
* Demonstrate an enthusiasm for the enjoyment of literature, story
telling, and poetry appropriate to the age level 
* Demonstrate the ability to organize and supervise clerical, student
aides, and parent volunteer program 
* Knowledge of and ability to use and maintain all forms of audio visual
equipment Possess the management and organizational skills necessary to
set up and maintain a school library 
*  Ability to assist teachers develop and assign lessons using support
materials Ability to use a computerized circulation system, catalog, and
information-retrieval technology (i.e., CD ROM, Mac Computers) 
* Possess human relation skills in relating to students, staff members,
parents and demonstrate ability to generate enthusiasm among students and 
staff for the library program 
* Experience initiating library/literature enrichment programs for
students Ability to schedule and manage library schedule and program to
meet classroom and student needs
* Willingness to offer staff learning opportunities related to new
technologies, use and production of a variety of media 
* Provide access to information and ideas by assisting students and staff
in identifying information resources outside the school 
* Ability to systematically develop a collection of resources within the
school and access resources outside the school 
* Demonstrate system to inform students, staff, and parents of new
materials and equipment
