Staff Training and Developement

Greetings,

I am a student at Florida State University's School of Informations
Studies. I am doing a project for my Human Resources class and the
topic is staff training and development for the paraprofessional and
professional in the public library. I would appreciate any contributions
or insights anyone might have about their organization. I have looked
at the libraries in Florida and am trying to get a perspective from
other regions.

Some areas I am interested in:

What type of training is available in-house?

What type of training is available regionally?

What type of financial support does the individual receive to attend
workshops, seminars and conferences?

Does your library actively emphasize, support and communicate the
continuing education for the staff?

This is not a survey. I would just appreciate any personal feed back
about how you feel about the training & development available to you.
It would be nice to hear from fellow colleagues about real-world
experiences. Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.
