For Immediate Release...
WLN Announces the Appointment of A Marketing and Sales Manager
WLN announces the appointment of Michael R. Smith to the position of
Manager of Marketing and Sales. Smith will direct an aggressive sales
effort by WLN to expand its products and services.
Smith, most recently with Ameritech Library Services (ALS), held
positions in both sales support and sales with ALS from 1990-1996.
Prior to his work at Ameritech, Smith was Automation Project Manager
with the Washington County (Oregon) Cooperative Library Services and
served as the Director of the Forest Grove (Oregon) City Library
before that. Smith, active professionally in the library community,
has an MLS from the University of California, Berkeley.
"Since WLN is fully Internet accessible we believe we can market WLN
online services at very competitive rates nationwide" Sharon West,
Director of Library Services for WLN, was quoted as saying. "We have
revised our pricing and are in the process of enhancing our LaserCat
and FastCat products so we think WLN can offer libraries and the
library industry a attractive choice of products or services in those
areas. Mike Smith, already well known in the library industry, will
be key to helping us develop a clientele nationally. We feel very
fortunate to have attracted a person of Mike's skill and integrity to
WLN."
Smith has already initiated a strategy to link WLN more closely to the
book industry and local systems providers, a part of WLN's long term
strategy to work more effectively with WLN's library partners.
WLN operates a library network in the United States and serves many
libraries and organizations of all types and sizes throughout North
America. WLN products and services include an online bibliographic
database with integrated authority files, Internet services,
CD-ROM catalogs, database preparation/authority control services,
and collection assessment services. [http://www.wln.com/]
