Job Opening Announcement Collection Analysis Librarian (1 Year Temporary Position) FTE: 100% (Full Time); Salary: $2612-$3262/Mo. Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Job Description: Responsible for the development and implementation of an on-going system of evaluation for individual branch and systemwide circulating book, audio and video collections, and the design of procedures for effective and efficient use of branch-level replacement and development funds in accordance with the library mission and policies. Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Develop and implement an on-going system of materials evaluation. Analyze current materials collection identifying subject gaps, lack of opposing viewpoints, appropriate copy quantities, etc. Design procedures for effective and efficient use of branch-level replacement and development funds. Effectiveness is measured through reports, consultation and compliance with policies and review of results achieved. May participate in the selection of materials for the Fort Vancouver Regional Library system in accordance with the Library policies and procedures. Prepare periodic reports. Maintain positive working relations with colleagues, the staff, the public, and volunteers. Perform related duties of similar complexity as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of: Principles and practices of librarianship. Policies, procedures and functions of a library system. Selection and collection development principles and practices, including collection evaluation. Working knowledge of Dewey classification. Basic knowledge of cataloging procedures. Dynix Integrated Library System desirable. WLN conspectus software, and/or Dynix Recall software desirable. Ability to: Adhere to Library Board policies in the selection of materials. Maintain confidentiality related to the area of work. Stay abreast of trends in collection management and evaluation. Operate with appreciable latitude for independent action and decisions commensurate with demonstrated ability. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Willingness to work evenings and weekends and to work a schedule which meets the needs of the department. Requires a MLS from an ALA accredited school and a State of Washington Librarian Certificate. Two years experience performing professional library work required. Selection experience highly desirable.
