Regional Justice Center Kent - Branch Services Librarian King County Law Library Seattle, Washington The King County Law Library is currently seeking candidates for the position of Regional Justice Center Kent - Branch Services Librarian. General Position Description: Under the supervision of the Law Librarian and utilizing technology, the Branch Services Librarian assists with planning, organizing, and supervising RJC Kent Branch Services activities including reference, circulation, computer and other technology applications, collection development and management, staff training, and facility maintenance. Assists with LAN administration. Assists in formulating and implementing general policies and programs for the Library System including materials selection and collection access services management, patron access services management, and performs related work as required. Reports to the Law Librarian. Directly supervises staffing involved with all aspects of Kent Branch operations. Education and Competencies Required: Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited institution with a minimum of three years of law library patron services experience required. Additional significant experience as a professional librarian or a Law Degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for two years of law library patron services experience. Knowledge of current law library service, organization, procedures, equipment and technologies including library computer applications to enhance library administration and services is required. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with the general public. Ability to plan, develop, direct, and promote branch service operations. Compensation: This position is a full time, benefited position. Salary in the upper $30's commensurate with qualifications. All Law Library employees are by statute employees at will. The Library: The King County Law Library, a public law library, serves the legal research needs of judges, practicing bar, state and local officials, and residents of King County, Washington. The Kent - Branch Law Library is located in the County's first Regional Justice Center in downtown Kent and houses a 15,000 volume collection which focuses primarily on Washington and Pacific Northwest legal resources. The King County Law Library provides access to legal information resources from two sites. The Library's main facility is located on the sixth floor of the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle. The downtown library houses an 88,000 volume collection which covers all major areas of local, State, and Federal law. Application Procedure: Position available September 15, 1997.
