Bylaws Amendments

INTEREST GROUPS

Whereas:       Interest Groups as a formal component of the Pacific Northwest Library Association seem no longer to have the support of the membership; and

Whereas:        Electronic and other forms of communication enable networking among members; and

Whereas:       The Board will facilitate similar activities through informal round tables, conference and other activities;

Be it moved that:  Article VI Interest Groups be deleted from the Bylaws and subsequent Articles be renumbered.

NOMINATIONS

Whereas:        Potential candidates may be discouraged from running for office by the requirement of needing 20 Association members to sign their petition;

Be it moved that:  Article 1, Section 2b of the Bylaws be amended to read:  “In addition to the slate presented by the Nominating Committee, members may nominate additional candidates for elective offices by petition, provided the petition has at least 5 members’ signatures and the consent of the nominee.  The petition must be forwarded to the Nominating Committee at least 30 days prior to the mailing of the ballot.”
