PNLA Board Nominations for 1999 - 2001 Term of Office

CANDIDATE FOR FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT/PRESIDENT ELECT

Profession Affiliations: President, Idaho Library Association 1997-98, Past President 1998-1999. Member - American Library Association, Pacific Northwest Library Association, Idaho Library Association, Public Library Association, Freedom to Read Foundation, Idaho Council International Reading Association, Association for the Education of Young Children.

PNLA Experience: Intellectual Freedom Leadership Development Regional Workshop Chair, Member 1965-1971 & 1978 to present. ILA Conference Chair1998 ILA/PNLA Joint Conference.

Goals: Lead and facilitate PNLA libraries and members in new and continuing partnerships and networks. Promote increased communication by listening to individuals and membership groups. Act as an Association leader - facilitator working to address concerns and issues. Promote increased membership and increased member involvement. Carry out work on the Strategic Plan. Promote PNLA's vision and mission. Work with and promote interest groups. Continue to protect and support intellectual freedom in the Pacific Northwest. Support emergent literacy programs.

CANDIDATE FOR TREASURER

Professional Affiliations: American Library Association Member since 1966, ACRL Distance Learning Section Statistics Committee 1974-present, served on council 1979-1984 ( see ILA Experience). Pacific Northwest Library Association member. Idaho Library Association member 1968-1996, ILA Chapter Councilor to ALA 1979-1984, Federal Relations Coordinator 1979-1984, Academic Division Chairperson 1979-1980.

PNLA Experience: Member since 1968, Circulation Division Chair 1977-1979, Interlibrary Loan Interest Group Chairperson 1991-1994.

Goals: In today`s networking environment, PNLA is in the enviable position of being an established regional organization which can conduct its business quickly across the State/Provincial and international boundaries within its wide geographic area. My goal as the PNLA Treasurer would be to support this important mission by conducting the fiscal business in such a manner that PNLA will continue to be sound financially. I have been a strong supporter of PNLA throughout my career and would enjoy the opportunity to serve it in the capacity of Treasurer.

CALL FOR FURTHER NOMINATIONS

Further nominations are encouraged for the offices of 1st Vice President/President Elect and Treasurer for the term 1999-2001. Each nominee shall be a member in good standing of the Association and shall give their written consent to the nomination. Each nomination shall be supported by the signatures of twenty (20) members in good standing of the Association and shall be submitted to Gordon L. Ray, Chair, PNLA Nominations Committee, 2392 Woodstock Drive, ABBOTSFORD, B.C. V3G 2E5, Canada by May 15th 1999.
