People

Pam McBride is the new director of the Clearwater Memorial Public Library in Orofino.  She replaced Jill Lynch.  There is also a new staff person, Jennifer Dunaway.

Karen Lukes, Director of the Hailey Public Library for the last ten years recently resigned to pursue personal interests.

            Anne Hankins, Director of the Kuna Community Library was named Citizen of the Year for 1999 by the Kuna Chamber of Commerce.  Hankins received the recognition due to her many library activities and for spearheading the fund raising for a new Community Library.

Peggy Cooper, most recently at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon will begin her duties in early January as Collection Development Librarian at Albertsons’ Library, Boise State University.

Andrea Testi was recently hired as the Idaho State Library's Talking Book Librarian. Prior to coming to Idaho, Andrea was at the Wyoming State Library.

Karin Ford has recently resigned from the Idaho State Library to assume the position of  Director of Library Services at WLN/OCLC.

Libraries

Voters of Priest Lake have approved the creation of a new library district to serve northwest Bonner County.

Construction of the new 4,000 sq. foot Potlatch Branch Library of the Latah County Library District has begun.

The Jerome Public Library received a grant from US West for a program called "Dos Mundos...Two Worlds" to promote understanding between Hispanic and English speaking cultures by promoting use of the library and its resources.

Bear Lake County Library in Montpelier plans several major changes to their building with a gift from the estate of Grace Theil.
